CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK – JANUARY 28 – FEBRUARY 4. 2024


FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – JANUARY 28, 2024


MASS SCHEDULE: JANUARY 29-FEBRUARY 4

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION, SATURDAYS, 3:15 – 3:45 RECONCILIATION ROOM


FEAST OF ST. BLAISE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd   St. Blaise is the patron saint of those with throat diseases.  Next weekend, February 3-4, Fr. Jim will bless throats following all Masses.  Those who wish to have their throat blessed should remain after Mass.


CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS COURT 1190   will meet on Monday, February 12th at Keyport Restaurant at 11:30 AM.  Lunch will be ordered from the menu.  A representative from the Ruth House will be the guest speaker.


ST. FRANCIS ALTAR SOCIETY will meet on Thursday, February 1st at 1:00 PM in the Garden Room.  Hostesses for the afternoon will be Ann Melcher & Betty Moe.  All ladies of the parish are welcome!


CATHEDRAL SCHOOL NEWS   Cathedral School Registration for the 2024/2025 school year will begin on February 1st, for Preschool through 8th grade.  We offer 3K and 4K Preschool Programs which are half day or full day.  For more information, please contact us at 715-392-2976 to schedule a tour. 


CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK EVENTS A Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, January 28th in Kress Hall from 8 AM until noon.  All are welcome.

MASS SCHEDULE: FEBRUARY 5-11


SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION, SATURDAYS 3:15-3:45 PM IN RECONCILIATION ROOM


ST. FRANCIS ALTAR SOCIETY SALAD BAR LUNCHEON- SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH – NOON

The menu will include a variety of homemade salads, hot German potato salad, chicken salad, bread, dessert, and a beverage.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 children ages 6-12 and children under 5 are free.  There will be door prizes as well as the annual raffle drawings.  If you have not received your tickets they will be arriving soon.  In the gathering space of the church, you will find sign-up sheets for your donations of a salad, prizes, gift card (or 2) of help the day of the luncheon.  This is an excellent opportunity for our Confirmation students to earn some of their service hours.  Salads should be brought to the parish hall the morning of the event between 8 and 10 AM.  For more information on the event or the raffle, please call Marilee at 715-399-8252, Anne at 218-348-8526 or 715-392-8486, Gail at 218-343-7223, or Betty at 715-394-3790.


SAFE HAVEN WEEKEND 

On the weekend of February 17-18 all the parishes in the diocese will be participating in the Safe Haven Program.  This program stands against pornography in our modern culture and supports the beautiful vision of sexuality which the Church promotes.  The bishop has asked all clergy to offer a homily against pornography that weekend.  Please be aware of this as you come to Mass.  Thank you.


DIOCESE OF SUPERIOR WOMEN’S RETREAT – “WHO AM I?” 

There are two weekend options – same time, cost venue and speaker!  Weekend #1 – February 10-11 and weekend #2 February 17-18.  (Saturday 8 AM – Sunday, noon).  Cost is $75 plus lodging at Heartwood Resort in Trego, Wisconsin.  Speaker will be Angela Schnieders, international speaker, former FOCUS Missionary & Regional Director, certified strategist of The Woman School.    To register contact https??www.regpack.com/reg/templates/build/?g_id=1009913404.  To register for lodging please telephone 715-319-3064.  Questions?  Call 715-234-5044 or email jjohnson@catholicdos.org.


CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL 

As the 2023/24 Catholic Services Appeal continues, we are grateful to the parish families that have already made their gift or pledge.  For us to achieve our overall goal of $63,338, it will require the active involvement and personal sacrifice of all members of our faith community.   Thus far, 143 families have responded. We have reached a total of $36,228 in pledges.  If you have not yet responded to the 2023/24 CSA, please reflect upon the importance of your support to ministry and outreach that relies upon the charity of the Diocese of Superior.   There are envelopes for your donation located in the blue basket near the ramp entrance.  Thank you!!


Thank You!!  to A-1 Movers for their recent, very large donation of food for the St. Francis Food Shelf!  We sincerely appreciate it!!!
This weekend, through the Sacrament of Baptism + we welcome + Thomas Richard Plachta, son of Pat & Maria.  Thomas’s godparents are Rev. John Utecht & Christine Dougherty.
