THE RCIA CLASSES THAT WERE TO BEGIN ON MARCH 12TH HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED

TO BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19TH.

SO, LENT HAS BEGUN.  What can I do to orient myself toward Jesus?  How can I practice fasting in the middle of so much sorrow?  Is there an invitation for me to give something up amid so much of our normal life having disappeared?  Lent is not about glorifying suffering, so we are not looking for more ways to suffer.  We do not need to analyze the checklist of options and pick one that feels like it might be doable given the prevailing circumstances.  But should I just pat myself on the back and eat another piece of chocolate?  Maybe Jesus has an invitation for me to draw close through changing a daily pattern for these six weeks.  Jesus has drawn close to us on the cross.  Turn to Jesus.  Sometime not eating ice cream does this handily.  We learned to practice Lent with a Holy Saturday service.  The liturgy brought us out of the sorrow of Lent and Holy Week into the joy of Easter.  I hope this is what we can find this Lenten Season – a tangible sense of the nearness of God’s goodness in sorrow and celebration.  God has drawn near to us on the cross.  Come, let us draw near to Jesus.

ST. FRANCIS ALTAR SOCIETY   would like to thank everyone for all the delicious salads that were bought in, all the monetary donations and the prizes that were donated.  It is only through our generous parishioners who help us to continue provide these events.  Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity!  Our final total for the attendance and raffle was $4,253.00.  The raffle netted $1,304.00 which the society has donated to the parish to help with the cost of the new color copier.
