As we celebrate Mass again in the parish, please be reminded that we practice social distancing in the church and that many pews are roped off so as to limit seating capacity. We now have seating for about 125, but the average attendance at a weekend Mass is about 50. Masks are worn in the building and hand sanitizer is amply available. You are encouraged to return to Mass as you are able. As Bishop Powers has reinstated the obligation for Mass attendance you are encouraged to come to a weekend liturgy. Should you be unable to come to a weekend liturgy, please consider attending a daily Mass – the schedule is in the bulletin. Attendance at daily Mass is 10-15 people.
MAINTENANCE JOB OPENING
St. Francis Xavier has a full-time job opening with benefits for a Facilities and Maintenance custodian. The individual is responsible for the care and repair of buildings, equipment and grounds, including snow removal at the church and rectory. Please contact Fr. Jim at the church office (715-398-7174) for further information and to submit a resume. Thank you.
CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL – 2020/2021
The Catholic Services Appeal provides us with the opportunity to lead people to holiness and discipleship while seeking the answers to the world’s challenges. This year, no matter the obstacles, true Disciples put our faith into action and live each day by what we say and what we do. All parishioners throughout the Diocese of Superior should have received a mailing from Bishop Powers. No gift is too small. Our goal this year is $50,838 which is $508 less than last year. Thank you for you continuing generosity!

We are requiring masks; sanitizer will be available in each classroom and we will comply with social distancing.
ST. FRANCIS ALTAR SOCIETY “NO BAKE” SALE IN OCTOBER
No baking, no bowls or pans to wash, no selling or buying of baked goods and no calories!! Rather, we ask you to support the Altar Society with your prayers and a financial gift, as if participating in a bake sale. If you wish to donate during the month of October, please note “Altar Society” on the envelope and place it in the collection box in the gathering space of the church or mail it to the parish – 2316 E. 4th Street. The Altar Society contributes financially to the many needs of the parish. We thank you for your support!
HEALTHY PARISH/STEWARDSHIP SURVEY
St. Francis Parish conducted an extensive survey in 2018 in an effort to get feedback from parishioners as to what is going well with parish life and suggestions on possible ways to make it even better. Your parish council is again reviewing survey results after a long break due to the COVID-19 and will resume reporting the findings in our parish bulletin. Our updates resume with overwhelming expression of gratitude by our parishioners to God for blessing us with a beautiful parish family and for having Fr. Jim as our shepherd and pastor. Examples of survey comments: “Fr. Jim’s homilies are very beneficial and insightful; “they are precise and concise” and “we love Fr. Jim and feel very lucky to have him as our pastor!” “It’s a wonderful parish and wonderful people!” Stay tuned for future feedback.

While the pandemic is still raging on in our diocese and world today, Pope Francis reminds us that we cannot go back to old ways after the pandemic.
“WE COME OUT OF IT BETTER, OR WE COME OUT OF IT WORSE. IT IS OUR OPTION.”
May we pray that our hearts and minds have changed for the better in this continued season of change.
