A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
On Thursday, August 6th I received word that a family I assisted recently was dealing with a COVID-19 infection. I went that day to be tested and was told to self-quarantine until the results were known. I was prepared to cancel weekend Masses when Bishop Powers stepped in and volunteered to help at St. Francis for the weekend. Not only did Bishop Jim take our three liturgies but he also presided at a wedding here in the parish! I am most grateful for the bishop’s assistance – he is a true pastor at heart! On Sunday, August 9th I received a call from the hospital – my Covid Test was NEGATIVE! Thank you, Lord! This entire episode reminds me of the importance of wearing a mask in public places and of social distancing. Covid is no hoax! Please take precautions for your family, yourself and your priest. Prayers for all of you for good health and encouragement.

CATHEDRAL PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Registration is now open for the 2020-2021 school year. Cathedral Preschool offers a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old program. Cathedral School is also a site for Superior Community Preschool. For more information about any of our preschool programs please contact Kristen Revering at 715-392-2976.
SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DePAUL
We continue to meet with people over video conference calls and have delivered nearly $2000 in goods directly to those in need (tents, clothing, household goods and food to those living in motels). We are still unable to accept goods due to the Catholic Charities Building not having public access and a safe way to handle donations. Financial donations can be mailed to SVDP AT 1416 Cumming Avenue, Superior. If you or anyone you know has a need or you wish to learn more about volunteering please leave a message at 715-398-409. Thank you for your ongoing support!
YOUTH GROUP ALERT
Superior Catholic Youth Group members are invited to the NEW Facebook Page. Links include the virtual EFC retreat that was held in June, as well as discussion topics. Please join the group! Comment, like and share our link to regroup our parishes. The 2020-2021 calendar is being planned – please feel free to forward any suggestions to Virginia for events and activities. POPE FRANCIS’ PRAYER FOR AN END TO THE PANDEMIC +
In the present tragic situation, when the whole world is prey to suffering and anxiety, we fly to you, Mother of God, and our mother, and seek refuge under your protection.
Virgin Mary turn your merciful eyes toward us amid this corona virus pandemic. Comfort those who are distraught and mourn their loved ones who have died. Be close to those who are concerned for their loved ones and who, in order to prevent the spread of disease, cannot be close to them. Fill with hope those filled with the uncertainty of the future and the consequences for the economy and employment.
Protect those doctors, nurses, health workers and volunteers who are on the front lines of this emergency and are risking their lives to save others.
Mary, consolation of the afflicted, embrace all your children in distress and pray that God will stretch our His all-powerful hand and free us from this terrible pandemic so that life can serenely resume its normal course.
To you who shine on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope, do we entrust ourselves, O Sweet Virgin Mary.
